NAVIGATING OAXACA

The center of Oaxaca de Juárez (official name of the city) is small and easy to navigate on foot.&nbsp; We put together this&nbsp;<a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/CKZT4cERhz52kjXV7?g_st=i" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Google Map List</a>&nbsp;with all the important spots: the ceremony at Grana hacienda, La Fabrica for the reception, and a handful of fav restaurants and mezcalerías. If you're staying in the center — i.e. the area north of the Zocalo (main town square) — you really can get everywhere for the wedding on foot very easily. Everything is w/in just a few blocks. (But definitely recommend an afternoon wander south of the Zocalo to the market, etc!) Don't forget to check the <a href="https://www.accuweather.com/en/mx/oaxaca-de-ju%C3%A1rez/234610/october-weather/234610" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">weather forecast</a> before you leave. Should be mid-70s daytime / low 60s at night for late October,&nbsp;with occasional short scattered showers. If you want to venture further out (highly recommended) to&nbsp;one of the mezcal distilleries or the ruins at <a href="https://www.alongdustyroads.com/posts/visit-monte-alban-oaxaca" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Monte Alban</a> or the mineral pools at <a href="https://www.instagram.com/explore/locations/247553621/hierva-de-agua/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Hierve el Agua</a>,&nbsp;Taxis&nbsp;are also everywhere. You can just flag them from the street outside the pedestrian area (cash only). If you prefer an app, you can use&nbsp;<a href="https://apps.apple.com/us/app/didi-rider-affordable-rides/id1362398401" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Didi</a> — an app like Uber that (usually) accepts credit cards — for rides around town or back to the airport. You can also obviously line something up through your hotel or one of the many travel spots around town.

TAXIS @ OAX Airport => Town

There's a centralized system for taxis at the airport. After&nbsp;you&nbsp;land, just look for the airport taxi kiosk (pictured below 👇🏼) right as you exit security. You can buy a ticket for about 450–500 pesos (~$25 USD). They speak&nbsp;English, and you can use a credit card.

On that note, almost all restaurants etc in the center of town accept credit cards. That said, it's definitely good practice to get some pesos from an ATM before you leave the airport terminal. (Taxis in town prefer cash, as do a lot of the artisan / craft shops.) There are also lots of ATMs in town.

If coming for us wasn’t enough, there's heaps of other fun things to post on your instagram... First up: mezcal. For that, Oaxaca is the holy land.&nbsp;Hit up a distillery, watch it get made, and, most importantly, taste all different kinds (responsibly, of course. ...or not. Lolo won't judge you). Then there are the ruins. Ancient. Epic. Falling apart, so better come quick. Walk through history, climb to the top if you're an overachiever, and soak in the views that've been around way way longer than it took for us to make our wedding website. It’s the perfect mix of “huh, humans are incredible” (human sacrifice pits notwithstanding) and “okay, I need that cocktail after all" (see above). And if you hunger for&nbsp;something more modern, Oaxaca’s got a grip of lovely markets, wild botanical gardens, heaps of newly minted michelin restaurants that won't ruin you, and even more incredible street food that also won't ruin you. It'll be pretty easy to see how it became one of our favorite places...&nbsp; Oh — and if you need an excuse to extend your trip after coming all this way, Mexico's big Day of the Dead holiday&nbsp;festival is the weekend after, something Oaxaca is especially known for. Shucks.

HOTELS — If You Fancy

Oaxaca has endless hotel and AirBNB options. Here are a few swankier options in easy locations — but there are loads of pretty darn inexpensive but stellar spots you can find with a few clicks on booking.com or your corporation of choice. That said, we recommend booking your accommodations as soon as possible, since the following weekend is Mexico's famous Day of the Dead celebrations —&nbsp;a big deal in Oaxaca and particularly spectacular time to be in Oaxaca, by all accounts, in case you need an excuse to extend your stay. Anyway, if you're looking for something easy, here are a couple of our favorite fancier options that are def pretty stellar (if not a bit pricey):
